New Roof Installation with Double Roman Profiled Tiles

Everyday Roofing completed this new roof installation in Portsmouth using red/brown double Roman profiled concrete tiles. This tile style gives the property a traditional appearance with a strong, weather-resistant finish.

First, we stripped the existing roof covering back to the roof structure. We then removed the old battens and prepared the roof for a full new installation. After that, our team installed a new breathable roofing membrane and treated roof battens.

The finished roof uses interlocking concrete roof tiles in a double Roman profile. We also installed a modern dry verge system to the gable end. As a result, the roof now has a clean edge detail and improved long-term protection.

Materials Used

For this roof, we used Permavent Graphite breathable membrane beneath the new tile covering. This membrane helps protect the roof from wind-driven rain and moisture. However, it still allows the roof space to breathe.

We also installed new treated roof battens. These provide a secure fixing point for the new tiles. In addition, they help maintain the correct tile gauge across the roof.

The main roof covering uses red/brown double Roman interlocking concrete tiles. These tiles lock together to create a strong and consistent roof covering. Therefore, they suit many pitched roof installations across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

About Double Roman Profiled Roof Tiles

Double Roman roof tiles have a distinctive raised roll profile. This design gives the roof more depth than a flat tile. It also creates a classic tiled appearance that suits many UK homes.

Because these tiles interlock, they provide good protection against wind and rain. They also cover the roof efficiently, which makes them a popular choice for re-roofing projects.

The red/brown finish works especially well on brick properties. It gives the roof a warm, traditional look while keeping the benefits of a modern concrete tile system.

Are Double Roman Tiles Common in Portsmouth?

Yes, double Roman concrete tiles are a common choice for pitched roofs in Portsmouth and nearby areas. Many local homes use profiled concrete tiles because they offer durability, value and reliable weather protection.

They also suit a wide range of property styles. For example, they work well on terraced homes, semi-detached houses and extensions. As a result, they remain a practical option for many local roof replacements.

Advantages of This Roof Tile System

This roofing system offers several practical benefits. Firstly, the interlocking tile design helps create a secure roof covering. Secondly, the concrete tiles provide strong resistance against everyday weather conditions.

The dry verge system also improves the finish at the gable end. It removes the need for exposed mortar at the verge. Therefore, it can reduce future maintenance.

In addition, the breathable membrane helps improve roof performance. It adds a secondary layer of protection beneath the tiles. Together, these materials create a durable, low-maintenance pitched roof.

Finished Result

The completed roof gives the property a clean and consistent finish. The red/brown double Roman tiles suit the brickwork well. Meanwhile, the dry verge system creates a neat edge along the gable end.

This project shows how a full re-roof can improve both appearance and protection. It also gives the homeowner a more reliable roof for the years ahead.
